The General Union of Voluntary Societies established the College of Occupational Therapy in 1989 as a collaborative initiative with the Royal Center of Farah in the Hussein Medical City. The primary objective was to equip graduates with the necessary skills to serve individuals with physical disabilities through occupational therapy. Unfortunately, the college had to be closed by the end of the academic year 1996/1995 due to the inability to transform it into a university college offering a bachelor’s degree. This decision was influenced by the relatively high operational costs and the absence of a university willing to supervise and financially support the establishment of such a college, as originally intended during its inception in 1989.
