The General Federation of Charitable Societies confirmed that raising the minimum wage, which came into effect to be implemented since the beginning of this year, will contribute to enhancing work, productivity, social justice and reducing the income gap.
The head of the temporary administrative body of the General Federation, Nasser Al-Shuraidah, indicated that this decision is a necessary step to improve the standard of living for low-income groups to support social justice, improve the standard of living of the most vulnerable groups, reduce poverty rates and protect job opportunities in a way that ensures long-term benefits for all parties.
He explained that the minimum wage constitutes a basic foundation to support and sustain social security systems, which ensures the provision of better services to workers and retirees alike.
He called for the importance of the minimum wage covering a sufficient segment of workers and various sectors to have a significant impact on workers, provide them with a decent life and enhance comprehensive development.
