The General Union of Charitable Societies stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and spreading the culture of tolerance, openness, communication, freedom of thought, conscience and belief, and that harmony is in the context of difference and not just a moral duty so that we all remain tolerant of each other so that love lasts in society and souls are purified towards others.
The Union indicated in its statement today on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in accordance with Resolution 9551, that the Union is keen to spread the meanings of goodness, humanity and cooperation by providing aid and assistance to needy groups.
With the aim of celebrating diversity and tolerance in practice, this day is an opportunity to revive the values of tolerance among people and renew the determination to combat all forms of hatred and fanaticism and promote the values that unite the human family in the East and West of the earth, no matter how many religions or cultures are diverse.
He added that Jordan is a model not only at the regional level but also internationally for tolerance based on respect, acceptance and appreciation for the rich diversity of our world's cultures, based on the fact that tolerance is the virtue that contributes to replacing the culture of war with a culture of peace.
He pointed out that the world at the present time is witnessing many wars and conflicts and the spread of issues of fanaticism, hatred and division between cultures, religions and peoples around the world, which requires the necessity of global collective action to promote a culture of tolerance and build dialogue, accept others and respect their rights so that cultural diversity and differences in customs and cultures among the peoples of the world are respected and appreciated. Tolerance is considered a fundamental pillar for promoting and protecting human rights and basic freedoms and is the guarantor of societies living in peace and security in all parts of the world.
The Union renewed its determination to continue working to spread the values of tolerance that enhance the spirit of human brotherhood and ensure the achievement of peace everywhere.
