Social Cooperation Campaign ("We Need Your Surplus")
This program, which began in 1986, aims to receive in-kind donations of clothing, blankets, food and usable household items in excess of citizens' needs, enabling the Union to distribute these donations to tens of thousands of citizens and charitable institutions. These donations often come from individuals and local and international organizations.
These donations benefit poor individuals and families, orphanages, persons with special needs and the elderly, rural schools, and poor and remote communities. Among the campaign's most notable works:
- Providing in-kind aid to relieve those affected in southern Lebanon in 1996.
- Providing in-kind aid to relieve those affected in Gaza in 2014 through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.
- Organizing a national donation campaign to relieve those affected in Iraq and providing humanitarian aid to them.
- Organizing periodic winter campaigns at the start of winter to provide emergency in-kind and financial aid to people affected by natural disasters in winter, such as heaters, blankets and food items.
- Organizing Ramadan campaigns to distribute in-kind and cash aid to the poor, in the form of food parcels and shopping vouchers, to ease the burden on needy families.
- Funding body: the General Union of Voluntary Societies, the UAE Embassy in Amman, UMR organization, Bank of Jordan, Housing Bank, Lamar Holding, Tayba Society, Fermsy One Group, Tkiyet Um Ali, and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.
