The President of the General Union of Charitable Societies, Dr. Atef Odaibat, participates as a representative of the General Union in the International Council for Voluntary Organizations (ICVA) conference in Geneva - Switzerland and the European Forum in Brussels - Belgium.
Dr. Adibat said that this participation comes within the annual conference and membership day organized by the International Center for Voluntary Organizations, as the conference focuses on improving access to high-quality humanitarian funding, assessing the comprehensive impacts of funding issues on the humanitarian system, and ways to take sound measures.
He pointed out that the second edition of the European Conference of the European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels will focus on enhancing cooperation and partnership between countries affected by crises, in the presence of donors, international stakeholders and the European Union.
He said that he will also participate in the Emergency and Environment Forum organized by the United Nations Environment Program and the Office for the Coordination of Refugees (OCHA), which will focus on the interaction between the environment and humanitarian response to emergencies, highlighting current efforts, existing challenges and opportunities in integrating environmental risks into humanitarian work and discussing policies.
