The General Union of Charitable Societies signed today, Tuesday, in its meeting hall with the Basmat Al-Khair Women’s Charitable Association an agreement to support the association in the amount of 4,850 dinars to implement the Together We Can project for self-employment of women in the city of Salt.
The agreement was signed by its president, Dr. Atef Odaibat, on behalf of the union, and on behalf of the association, its president, Buthaina Al-Zoubi.
Dr. Adibat stressed that the Union is a national institution that always seeks to work in partnership with various institutions and entities, indicating the importance of the role that associations play in bringing about development, as the Union is keen to involve them in the activities and events organized by the unions and direct them to present studies and projects to enhance their work mechanisms in a way that reflects positively on the local community. .
Odaibat added that this support was provided by the General Union of Charitable Societies in accordance with the foundations and standards approved by the Union, with the aim of raising the efficiency of women in professions that enable them to enter the labor market, indicating the importance of the project that targets women so that they gain experience that enables them to create purposeful projects.
Odaibat stated that the Union directs support to productive projects away from direct support, with the aim of achieving sustainable development and as an incentive for other associations that must move towards providing economic feasibility for projects that will benefit them and contribute to employing the workforce to solve the problem of poverty and unemployment.
Director of Projects at the General Union, Shatha Qutaishat, said that this is the third agreement that the Union has signed since the beginning of this year with the associations to support them in achieving their mission and goals to empower women and enhance their ability to achieve projects that will benefit them and their families.
The president of the association, Al-Zoubi, indicated that through the project, 30 women who are able to enter the labor market will be empowered and provided with sufficient skills to start their projects in the field of fringing, food manufacturing, mosaic art, and training in various designs using stones, beads, metals, shells, glass, ceramic tiles, and mosaic drawings to produce artistic pieces that express heritage. .
She said that the project aims to self-employ women within the economic empowerment program adopted by the association to contribute to improving life for families by enhancing productivity for women in poor and limited-income families. The association worked to design a set of activities to achieve this goal and raise awareness about the importance of small, income-generating projects and training on Professional and technical skills and holding a product exhibition for women.
She explained that the association, which was founded in 2009, included economic empowerment among its goals, and it implemented many programs and projects, including a project to restore homes, kindergartens, wells, agriculture, fitness, solar heaters, and other projects.
