The President of the General Union of Charitable Societies and the President of the Union of Societies of Tafila Governorate, Amer Khawaldeh, accompanied the Minister of Social Development, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, during her field visit to Tafila Governorate on Thursday. The visit included visits to several needy families, inspections of social projects and services provided by the Ministry, and assessments of the conditions of affiliated societies and centers, as well as an opportunity to learn about the needs of citizens on the ground.
Minister Bani Mustafa began her tour by visiting several needy families, where she reviewed their living conditions and directed that they receive immediate assistance. She also directed the Ministry to study the possibility of renovating a number of homes through its programs and engineering teams, ensuring healthy and safe housing for the most vulnerable families.
She also visited the Tafila Sons Association for Special Education, where she met with the Association's President, Abdullah Hanaqta, and learned about the services provided to people with disabilities. These services include physical therapy units and the Association's income-generating projects, such as the greenhouse project, the nursery and recreation workshop, and the hotel room project, all of which aim to enhance financial sustainability and provide employment opportunities.
The tour included the Ministry's Tafila Comprehensive Day Center for Inclusive Services, which provides specialized services in special education, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and psychological support. The center serves 58 children and provided a total of 1,512 therapy and rehabilitation sessions in 2025. The Minister emphasized the importance of continuing to develop the center and improve its services.
Minister Bani Mustafa also visited the Ain al-Bayda Community Development Center and its expansion, which was implemented in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives. The expansion aims to broaden services, improve facilities, and increase the number of beneficiaries. The center implements several development projects, most notably the "Oasis Curriculum" project, which trains women in productive crafts, and the "Makani" project. It also operates a kindergarten and nursery serving 143 children and contributing to the economic empowerment of 16 women.
In the Al-Bahrat neighborhood, the Minister met with a number of women from the area, listened to their concerns regarding living conditions, and directed the relevant officials in the Ministry and the National Aid Fund to study these demands and work to address them within the available resources.
The Minister emphasized the importance of partnership with the non-profit sector in humanitarian, relief, and development efforts. She noted the importance of classifying these associations and improving their institutional performance, in addition to conducting a comprehensive survey of people with disabilities in the Tafila Governorate in coordination with relevant authorities, to ensure the provision of services based on accurate data.
Al-Khawaldeh indicated that the Minister's meeting with several charitable associations in the governorate, during which she listened to their key observations and needs and directed that they be studied and addressed, contributes to improving the performance of these associations and strengthening their developmental role towards their local communities.
Al-Khawaldeh commended the visit, affirming that it reflects the Minister's approach of engaging directly with citizens and associations and enhances integration between the Ministry and the charitable sector, thus contributing to achieving comprehensive social development and serving the most vulnerable groups.
