About Us
The General Union of Voluntary Societies is umbrella of charitable associations in Jordan. It was established on 1/8/1959, as a civil voluntary organization registered with the Ministry of Social Development under the Law on Organizations, to improve social services, unify the efforts and work of charitable associations in all sectors in cooperation with the governorates unions and affiliated charitable associations, and support the work of official organizations to achieve social peace and sustainable development in local associations.
Gradually moving charitable work from the concept of relying on grants and aid to sustainable charitable work, upgrading it, and enhancing the values of volunteer work, to achieve a state of harmony in social solidarity and community peace.
Charitable work should be the primary counterpart to national efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in the Kingdom.
Objectives
- 01.
Coordinating the Union’s efforts with affiliated societies in all governorates and contributing to social planning at the national level

Raising the level of social service in the Kingdom
- 03.
The General Union, in cooperation with governorate Unions and charities in the governorates, undertakes to establish small productive projects, finance them by providing concessionary loans, and provide new job opportunities for citizens in local communities to raise the social level of families.

Providing financial, in-kind, and technical assistance to the charitable associations, executing, and supporting the social work projects adopted by the administrative body, supporting the projects executed by the charitable associations and governorates unions, and providing assistance to the needy in emergencies within the available financial and in-kind means of the General Union.

Securing additional funds to finance the projects of the General Union and those of the unions in the governorates within the applicable laws and regulations.
- 06.
Resolving any disputes arising among the charitable associations.
- 07.
Strengthening the cooperative ties between non-government organizations abroad within the law, especially the organizations that manage their branches in the Kingdom.
